All DNA samples are checked for quality and quantity by agarose gel electrophoresis, spectrophotometry and for some accessions, also by use in downstream applications such as PCR, rolling circle amplification or restriction enzyme digests.

The DNA samples are stored at -80 °C and/or at room temperature for ease of storage and transport. Room temperature storage is achieved using DNA SampleMatrix®, a proprietary substance of Biomatrica, which forms a glass-like shell around the DNA when dehydrated but dissolves when water is added.
