About Biosecurity Bank
The Biosecurity Bank commenced in 2008 and is an initiative of the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Cooperative Research Centre for National Plant Biosecurity.
The biosecurity bank aims to provide a comprehensive collection of DNA samples and clones to a range of plant pathogens and pests
Our mission To provide a comprehensive collection of DNA samples and clones to a range of plant pathogens and pests, to be utilised in biodiversity and biosecurity research by current and future generations. Our primary focus is plant pathogens and pests, either endemic or exotic, which could cause significant damage to Australia's agricultural industries or natural environments.
Our location The first two nodes of the Biosecurity Bank are located at the Indooroopilly Sciences Centre of the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, Queensland and the Centre for Plant Conservation Genetics at the Lismore campus of Southern Cross University, New South Wales, Australia.
The Cooperative Research Centre for National Plant Biosecurity was established under the Australian Government's Cooperative Research Centres Program
